Moen's MotionSense™ hands-free faucet's Thoughtful Design was inspired by homeowners.
Imagine the convenience of a kitchen faucet that can sense what the user is trying to accomplish and then respond to that need, in an instant! It's not the future... it's Moen's MotionSense hands-free faucet, and it's showing up in kitchens across America.
Building a truly innovative product like MotionSense required Moen to begin by making detailed observations of how homeowners use a kitchen faucet. So the research and development was about a lot more than talking to consumers or asking them questions. It was about intently watching their actions and behaviors, and then crafting features that improved ease of use and ease of life.
Noting that people often try to turn a kitchen faucet on or off while both hands are occupied, Moen included motion sensor touchless controls. Homeowners wouldn't ordinarily think of asking for that kind of thing, which is exactly why Moen's Thoughtful Design approach works to uncover unmet needs and create improvements that naturally enhance a person's way of using a product.
Here's how it works: Homeowners can simply wave their hand over the MotionSense faucet's Wave Sensor to turn the water on or off. This sensor is great for filling large pots, rinsing the sink, or washing dishes. If one inadvertently walks away from the running faucet, there's no worry because it has a two-minute timer that automatically shuts it off.
A second Ready Sensor at the base of the MotionSense faucet senses when a drinking glass, dish, hand or any other object is placed under the spout. The flow is automatically activated as long as the object remains in place under the spout. Pull it away and the water flow ceases. This sensor is ideal for washing hands or rinsing dishes.
Technophobes need not panic. The MotionSense faucet also comes with a traditional handle that lets users control water flow and temperature manually.
Three ways to activate the faucet makes rinsing off those dishes a lot easier, and in the sensor modes, can help consume less water too. MotionSense is convenience on command.
The user-friendly design makes the faucet easy to operate.
MotionSense gives users flexibility and convenience allowing them to complete tasks quickly and efficienciently.
Hands-free operation not only reduces the spread of germs, but also means the faucet needs less cleaning.
MotionSense's sensors help reduce waste by delivering water only when you want it.
Moen has also made every effort to ensure MotionSense is quick and straightforward to install. No complicated subassembly is required.
